2009 USA 100K Team Selection

From Howard Nippert (USATF Mountain, Ultra & Trail Running Council):

As dictated by the qualifying standards for the 2009 U.S. National 100Km Team to the 2009 IAU 100Km World Cup held in Torhout, Belgium on June 19, 2009, the window for qualification ends March 22, 2009 (just over 1 week).  Team selection will take place by Wednesday, March 25 with the Team announcement by March 29.

This is the current list of athletes meeting one or more of the standards for qualification.  Unless an obscure race exists or a lone performance occurs between now (March 13, 2009) and next Sunday, this is most likely the list of athletes from which the 2009 US Team will be selected.

This is just a heads-up notice to remind everyone that the team selection is on the horizon and to refresh everyone with the selection procedures:

We will not select the 2009 100Km Team from THIS list, but a similar one which I will forward in a similar message next Sunday evening after the qualifying window has closed.

USSSA Snowshoe National Championships - Results (sort of)

The 9th Annual USSSA Snowshoe National Championships took place at Mt. Hood yesterday. As of this posting official results are not available but here is what I've deduced from a complicated system of ratchets and pulleys (all times approx):

Women's 10k Championships:
1 Brandy Erholtz
2 Sonja Wieck - 6:30 back
3 Casey Shea - 2 seconds behind Wieck
Men's 10k Championships:
1 Peter Fain CA 44:43
2 Kelly Morenson MN 45:21
3 Charlie Wertheim CO 46:27
4 Andrew Kless NY 46:47
5 ???
6 Dave Dunham - Bradford, MA 47:59
10 Sylvester Coons - 50:20
12 Richard Bolt - Portland, OR 51:09

Brandy is a member of the Teva US Mountain Running Team and won by the largest margin of any snowshoe championship. Photos of the race can be found at:
