NACAC Mountain Championships in Mexico, July 17th

Invitation for 2009 and 2010 USA Mountain Team Members,

The 2011 NACAC Mountain Championships will be held in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico on July 17th in conjunction with Carrera de La Chupinaya.  The MUT council is working to put together a team for the event.  Mexico has done a great job of hosting in the past and I feel their efforts deserve a strong US representation.  The selection procedures are below.  I would appreciate a response with your initial interest, whether yes or no.  That will help direct me to contact other mountain runners about applying for a team position.

Selection Procedure for NACAC Mountain Team:

1.  Four men and four women will be selected.  Athletes will get uniforms, but sorry there is no travel funding.  (Transportation to and from the airport as well as accommodations are generally provided by host country.)

2.  Members of the 2010 US Mountain Team will be offered a position first, then members of the 2009 US Mountain Team.

3.  If the team is not filled by procedure 2, athletes will then be selected by resume.  Previous mountain running experience is preferable, but any athletes are welcome to submit resumes.  Running resumes can be sent to Jason Bryant, runningmtn.goat@yahoo.com.

4.  The NACAC Mountain Team will be announced by April 15th.

Race info:

The NACAC race will be held in conjunction with Carrera de La Chupinaya in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico on July 17th.  The race is a one loop 13.8Km(8.57 miles) course that starts at 5020 feet.  The course climbs up to 7875 feet before descending back to the start.  The first mile of the course is on road, then goes onto single track trail.  The course is the same for men and women.  Athletes will fly into Guadalajara Airport.  Ajijic is about 35 miles from Guadalajara.
